This Monday a group of men and women began walking towards Stillwater Oklahoma to raise money for the Oklahoma Special Olympics.
This walk was named after a hometown hero, Cpl. Jared Shoemaker, USMC. Jared was also a Tulsa Police Officer. He served with distinction and honor according to Chief Dave Been.
On September 4, 2006, Cpl. Shoemaker was killed in Iraq while serving his country.
Now these individuals are honoring Jared by walking the 57 mile journey to benefit the Oklahoma Special Olympics. Serving was Jared's life long dream and there are several who have decided that the dream of service did not disappear when Jared lost his life.
You may honor Jared's journey by supporting the Special Olympics in his name. Visit www.firstgiving.com and when prompted, enter the name Comstock, JC. So far this effort has raised over $340.00.
You can make a difference by just making a donation today. Lets honor Jared together and make a difference in the life of an Oklahoma Special Olympian.
